Turmeric Latte

Turmeric Latte

I love staring off cold winter mornings with a warm turmeric latte. I stumbled upon a turmeric paste recipe while looking for ways to keep my dog in tip-top condition. My first batch yielded so much paste, I decided to try it out for myself. The results were impressive. I experienced improved digestive health and increased energy. The healthy fats from the flaxseed oil also kept me feeling full longer. My husband, who suffers from ulcerative colitis noticed significant improvements in his digestive health as well. Our dog? Well, our last vet visit revealed he is in tip-top condition. He's 10 going on 6 the vet said. :)

Give a go and let me know what you think.

Turmeric Paste

*1 cup spring water

*1/2 cup turmeric powder

*1/3 cup flaxseed oil

Pour the 1 cup water into a small pot over medium heat. When the water starts to simmer remove it from the stove and slowly pour in the turmeric powder. Combine well and slowly add the flaxseed oil. Combine well and let cool.

Dj weighs about 15 pounds and I add 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric paste to his food daily.

Turmeric Latte

Combine 1 teaspoon of the turmeric paste with 1 cup of nondairy milk (we use homemade unsweetened almond milk). Combine well and warm in a small pot on the stove (if microwaves are your thing, feel free to warm it up that way). Remove from heat and add 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, a dash of black pepper and cinnamon. Combine well and sip slowly.
